CVA Responds to President Trump’s State of the Union Address
ARLINGTON, Va. – In response to President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director John Vick issued the following statement:
“Tonight, President Trump laid out a vision for strengthening America at home and abroad. For veterans and military families, the direction of our foreign policy, economic opportunity, and health care is deeply personal. We are encouraged by important progress in each of these areas.
The president has taken meaningful steps to end our nation’s endless wars, including reducing troop levels in Iraq and Syria. Veterans know the cost of prolonged conflict better than anyone and understand a disciplined foreign policy that prioritizes clear objectives and American interests honors the sacrifices of those who serve and ensures military power is used responsibly. We encourage the president to continue to honor his commitment to a foreign policy that puts our country’s citizens and national interests first.
At home, policies that lower barriers to work, entrepreneurship, and upward mobility help all Americans pursue their American Dream. A strong economy creates opportunity for every American across our nation looking to thrive, give back to their communities, and help lead America forward for future generations.
Concerned Veterans for America will continue advocating for a foreign policy that is prudent and focused on vital U.S. interests, reforms that put patients in control of their health care needs, and economic policies that expand opportunity for all Americans.”
