CVA Urges Reform of VA Community Care Program Following House Hearing
ARLINGTON, Va. ―This morning, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs held an oversight hearing on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ administration of the Community Care Program. Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director John Vick testified before the committee, calling on lawmakers to protect and expand veterans’ health care choices that are crucial for accessing timely, high-quality care outside the VA system.
CVA outlined why community care has been a game-changer for millions of veterans and the steps that Congress needs to take, such as passing the Veterans’ ACCESS Act, which can protect these choices and further empower veterans in the years to come.
CVA Executive Director John Vick issued the following statement:
“Community care is essential to keeping our promise to veterans, but too many are still trapped by delays and red tape when they try to access care outside the VA,” said Vick.
“Veterans have earned the ability to get the care they’ve earned, when and where they need it. Veterans’ health benefits should offer those who have served the flexibility to access this care promptly from the provider of their choice. Congress must act immediately to make that a reality.”
Concerned Veterans for America will continue working with Chairman Bost and members of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee to advance commonsense reforms that expand access, reduce wait times, and ensure the VA system truly serves those who served.
