GRASSROOTS VETERANS GROUP APPLAUDS CHAIRMAN BOST FOR HOLDING VA ACCOUNTABLE TO UPHOLD ITS MISSION TO VETERANS
ARLINGTON, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director John Vick issued the following statement after the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released a report exposing that senior Biden-Harris administration VA officials misled Congress about the health of its finances and that the agency did not need an additional $3 billion in emergency taxpayer funds or benefits to account for what proved to be a fake shortfall:
“The new VA OIG report confirms our prior fears that the Biden-Harris VA leadership was unable to provide simple fiscal oversight at the expense of our nation’s heroes and every American taxpayer.
The VA is the government’s second largest bureaucratic department, and it should be able to answer basic questions about how much money it has, but it has continually proven it cannot.
CVA has called for the Trump administration and new VA Secretary Doug Collins to drive meaningful reform at the Department of Veterans Affairs including a clear commitment that spending is aligned with the organization’s core mission of serving our veterans, specifically including an external audit of the VA.
Veterans and American citizens deserve an honest review of VA assets, facilities and personnel to ensure they are making good use of taxpayer dollars. We applaud Chairman Bost for calling attention to this OIG report and are optimistic Secretary Collins will ensure the VA is held accountable to properly manage its budget.”
