Concerned Veterans for America Launches Ad Highlighting Clinton’s Downplaying of VA Scandals

Ad Also Urges Congress to Support the VA Accountability Act

Arlington, Va.Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) today announced that it has launched a six-figure ad campaign in Florida and South Carolina focused on Hillary Clinton’s recent comments regarding the scandals plaguing the VA and that also urges Congress to pass the VA Accountability Act.

The ad follows recent campaigns by CVA encouraging several senators to support the VA Accountability Act, which would grant the VA secretary the authority to fire any underperforming or unethical employee.

On October 23, Clinton declared that the scandals that have rocked the VA, including secret wait lists, thousands of veterans being denied care and claims correspondence being shredded, are not as “widespread” as has been reported. Veterans groups and political leaders of both parties quickly condemned her remarks, and Clinton has since attempted to back away from her comments.

CVA CEO Pete Hegseth released the following statement regarding the campaign:

“Veterans and politicians agree – Mrs. Clinton’s remarks about the VA and veterans’ care were callous, dismissive and painfully out of touch. The mentality her statements reflect is exactly what led to the widespread scandals at the VA in the first place.

“Congress should ignore politicians like Mrs. Clinton who downplay the problems at the VA and make fixing the VA a priority. Fortunately, there is a way forward on the reforms that veterans want, and passing the VA Accountability Act is the first place to start. It is time for Congress to approve this commonsense legislation that would hold VA employees to the same standards as millions of hard-working Americans across the country, and in the process ensure veterans receive the highest quality of care.”
