CVA Praises Senator Jon Husted for Advancing Veteran Health Care Access

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) praised Senator Jon Husted for introducing the Rural Veterans Improved Access to Benefits Act, legislation that strengthens health care and benefits access for veterans, particularly those in rural and underserved Ohio communities.

The bill ensures permanent, cross-state access to certified providers for required disability compensation exams, expands the types of qualified medical professionals who may conduct those exams, and extends VA contracting authority through January 5, 2031.

Adam Miller, Strategic Director for Concerned Veterans for America in Ohio, said:

“Veterans deserve timely, reliable access to the care and benefits they have earned, no matter where they live. Senator Husted’s legislation cuts through bureaucratic red tape, expands access to qualified providers, and ensures veterans aren’t left navigating delays or uncertainty. We appreciate his leadership and commitment to commonsense reforms that put veterans first.”

CVA has long championed expanding veterans’ health care choice, including strong support for the Veterans’ ACCESS Act, a top priority for the organization. Senator Husted’s legislation complements these efforts by ensuring providers can meet veterans’ needs and deliver care closer to home.

Ohio veterans and military families strongly support health care choice for all Americans. Our nation has a special obligation to care for those who served, not protect bureaucracies, by empowering veterans with real options that meet their health care needs.
