Bennet Must Back Constituents on Gorsuch

By Concerned Veterans for America

Denver, CO – Ahead of the expected Senate floor vote on Judge Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation to United States Supreme Court this Friday, Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) has announced he will not support a filibuster. But despite growing pressure from his constituents, Senator Bennet has failed to publicly express that he will vote in support of Gorsuch, a Colorado native. Bennet is up for re-election in 2022.

Earlier last month, Senator Bennet appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee and praised Gorsuch’s record. Bennet said that Gorsuch had a “distinguished record of public service, private practice, and outstanding integrity and intellect,” adding that Gorsuch had won the respect of the Colorado state bar.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) has made over 110,000 calls to constituents in Colorado, asking them to urge Bennet to vote “yes” on Gorsuch. The group has also launched targeted web ads and several waves of direct mail in the state.

CVA Executive Director Mark Lucas issued the following statement:

We applaud Senator Bennet for not engaging in political theater and obstructing this important process. Now Bennet must take his commitment to his constituents a step further and support getting Neil Gorsuch onto the Supreme Court bench. Concerned Veterans for America will continue pressuring Bennet to do the right thing until the moment Gorusch is confirmed on Friday. This should be an easy vote for him.”

Colorado Gazette editorial recently wrote, “To vote against Gorsuch, Bennet would favor his party over someone who clearly ranks among the top-qualified nominees in the court’s history.”
