CVA Thanks Lawmakers for Standing With Constitution

Veterans group praises lawmakers for voting to repeal 2002 AUMF

ARLINGTON, Va.–In a new digital ad launched Monday, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) is encouraging Americans to thank specific lawmakers for taking a principled stance in favor of Congress playing a co-equal role in foreign policy.

The digital ads commend the bipartisan effort to repeal the 2002 AUMF amendment and highlight lawmakers by name, applauding them for taking a principled stance in favor of ending endless wars.

CVA Senior Advisor, Dan Caldwell, had this to say about the effort:

“After almost two decades of fighting, Americans are tired of endless wars in the Middle East that aren’t making us safer. Repealing the outdated 2002 AUMF – originally passed to authorize the disastrous invasion of Iraq- is a critical step toward reasserting Congress’ proper role in shaping American foreign policy. We applaud the principled leadership of those members who voted to reclaim their Constitutionally-mandated responsibilities, and value their willingness to push back against those who would impede this crucial progress. CVA stands ready and will continue to support the positions of those who stand with us to rethink foreign policy and put an end to endless wars.”

The ads will run in the lawmakers’ districts and inform constituents of their lawmaker’s leadership on this issue. Citizens will have the opportunity to encourage their lawmaker and ask for renewed commitment in rethinking foreign policy and ending endless wars.

The members selected for this effort were chosen for their willingness to challenge the status quo and work across the aisle to support bipartisan efforts to advance a better foreign policy for all Americans. The members targeted by the ad campaign are:

Biggs (AZ-5), Cloud (TX-27), Davidson (OH- 8), Gaetz (FL-1), Gallagher (WI-8), Herrera Beutler (WA-3), Massie (KY-4), Mooney (WV-2), Roy (TX-21), Schweikert (AZ-6), Upton (MI-6).
