CVA Statement on POTUS, VA Budget Requests

By Concerned Veterans for America

ARLINGTON, Va.—Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director Dan Caldwell issued the following statement in response to the release of budget requests for FY2020 by President Trump and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

“It is unsustainable to continually increase the VA’s budget by 5-10 percent every year. We appreciate the proposal to implement some cost-saving measures, but we have seen unprecedented budget increases at the VA over the past decade with no significant change to the core structural problems within the VA. We think a larger focus on mitigating costs and eliminating inefficiencies would allow the VA to provide for the care and benefits our veterans deserve while honoring taxpayers by being responsible stewards of their tax dollars.”

Last year, Caldwell penned an op-ed in Military Times after President Trump announced a five percent across-the-board cut to cabinet departments’ budgets.
