New POTUS Lower Court Nominees Will Defend Liberty

By Concerned Veterans for America

Arlington, VA – Last night President Trump announced his second round of lower court nominations for the U.S. Court of Appeals. Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) is urging Congress to expedite the confirmation of three of the President’s picks because they are well qualified and highly principled individuals who have a record of upholding the rule of law.

The President’s picks being supported by CVA include Stephanos Bibas for the United States Court of Appeals’ Third Circuit, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and former Assistant United States Attorney; Allison Eid, nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, Associate Justice on the Colorado Supreme Court and Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Law; and Ralph R. Erickson, nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, serving currently as the U.S. District Court Judge, District of North Dakota.

CVA Policy Director Dan Caldwell issued the following statement:

“While confirming Gorsuch was a huge achievement, Congress has over one hundred other invaluable opportunities to protect individual liberties on lower courts across the country. We believe that President Trump has again selected some outstanding nominees who will uphold our nation’s laws with integrity and ensure Americans of all walks of life are given access to the justice they deserve. Our activists are highly motivated to realign American courts around freedom, and we will mobilize them as needed in these fights.”

While the Supreme Court only hears around 80 cases a year, lower courts consider over 360,000 cases. There are currently over 120 vacancies to fill on the lower courts. President Trump’s first round of lower court picks on the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 11th Circuit Courts are also supported by CVA.

When President Trump nominated Justice Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, our base of veterans, military families, and citizen activists made over 350,000 emails and phone calls talking to Americans about Justice Gorsuch and urging them to contact their Senators in his support. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) voted to confirm Justice Gorsuch after being targeted by CVA activists.
