By Concerned Veterans for America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 21, 2012 Contact: Kate Pomeroy | 703-638-3927 NOTE: Event to be streamed live over the web Arlington, VA – How will looming defense cuts scheduled for 2013 and beyond affect national security and the U.S. military’s force readiness? On December 11, a bipartisan group of military experts will consider this question in a special panel discussion in Washington, D.C. Hosted by Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) and moderated by William Kristol, publisher of The Weekly Standard, the panel presentation, “Defend & Reform: The Future of America’s Defense Spending,” will include members of the U.S. Congress and a variety of defense experts in a frank discussion of the future of America’s defense spending. As an advocate for the interests of veterans and active service personnel, CVA believes Congress must undertake serious reforms to defense spending to maintain a sustainable fiscal path while preserving American power. To that end, over the past five months, CVA has produced a series of five case studies under its Defend and Reform initiative examining various strategies for specific defense cuts and reforms, with an eye towards identifying what makes for smart, strategic and effective defense reforms. Panelists include Michael O’Hanlon of The Brookings Institution, Russell Rumbaugh of The Stimson Center, Steve Bucci of The Heritage Foundation, Pete Hegseth of Concerned Veterans for America and Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-2). Registration is free and lunch will be served. To register for this event, CLICK HERE.
