Arlington, VA – Today begins Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch’s hearing before the U.S. Senate.
Senator Heitkamp (D-ND) has said that Judge Gorsuch deserves an up-or-down vote, but has failed to express support for his confirmation. Heitkamp is up for re-election in 2018.
Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director Mark Lucas issued the following statement:
“Members of the Senate must focus on Judge Gorsuch’s qualifications to serve on the bench and avoid political theatre. Gorsuch’s unparalleled experience and principled approach to interpreting the rule of law proves he will respect the Constitution that so many Americans veterans fought and sacrificed to defend. We urge Senator Heitkamp to do right by North Dakotans and help drive a thorough, clean, and expedited confirmation hearing in upcoming weeks.”
CVA has made thousands of calls to North Dakota constituents asking them to contact Senator Heitkamp and urge her to confirm Gorsuch without delay. CVA also recently launched a targeted web ad and direct mail campaign in support of Gorsuch.
The American Bar Association has given Judge Neil Gorsuch its highest rating, unanimously declaring him “well-qualified.”
