CVA Supports New Cruz Bill to Modernize VA Information Technology

By Concerned Veterans for America

Arlington, VA — Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently introduced the VA Information Technology Restructuring Act, a bill intended to modernize the information technology (IT) systems at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The bill will create a Chief Information Officer (CIO) position within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to help streamline the upgrading, acquisition, and operation of IT systems in the department.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Policy Director Dan Caldwell issued the following statement:

“The VA is far behind the private sector in its ability to upgrade, modernize, and consolidate its IT systems. Senator Cruz’s new bill will help the VA make better tech decisions under new leadership dedicated solely to improving the department’s IT. We applaud Senator Cruz’s effort to make the VHA more effective, and we proudly support the VA Information Technology Restructuring Act.”
