CVA Statement on VA Hiring Freeze
January 25, 2017
Arlington, VA – CVA Policy Director Dan Caldwell issued the following statement on the hiring freeze at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):
“Over the last eight years, the VA’s budget and staffing levels have greatly increased while its performance in many areas has continued to be extremely poor. It’s reasonable that the VA is freezing non-essential hires as they await new leadership and anticipate larger and longer-term reforms. This is a responsible move, not only for veterans who expect the VA to improve substantially under the new administration, but also for the American taxpayers who fund the department.”
