CVA Statement on AMVETS Endorsement of VA Reform Proposals

Arlington, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) CEO Pete Hegseth made the following statement in response to the American Veterans’ (AMVETS) endorsement of CVA’s proposals to reform health care delivery at the VA:

“Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) is honored to accept AMVETS’ endorsement of our taskforce proposals for much-needed VA reform—making the VA more accountable for the care it provides, and substantially increasing health care choices available to veterans. A robust and respected veterans service organization, AMVETS actively shares CVA’s conviction that veterans and their families must come first in any policy discussion.

“Meaningful reform is never easy—entrenched special interests and unaccountable bureaucrats will consistently fight to preserve the status quo. However, with distinguished VSOs like AMVETS standing with us, CVA is confident veterans will overcome institutional resistance and finally advance long-overdue reforms that improve the lives of our national heroes and their families.”

In February 2015, Concerned Veterans for America, working with a bipartisan taskforce of veterans and healthcare experts, released a report entitled “Fixing Veterans Health Care,” which highlighted common-sense reforms that would increase accountability at the VA, and improve health care choices and quality of care for veterans.
