ARLINGTON, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) released the following statement after Pete Hegseth was confirmed by the Senate as Secretary of Defense:

“The confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense presents a real opportunity to prioritize the security and prosperity of our citizens, champion prudence and effectiveness in our defense strategy, and focus our Department of Defense on America’s most vital interests.

CVA looks forward to working with Secretary Hegseth and the Trump Administration to shape a stronger, freer, and more secure nation for all Americans through:

  • A clear commitment to American sovereignty: Ensuring every defense policy reflects the security, freedom, and prosperity of Americans first.
  • Smart, results-driven defense strategies: Aligning military decisions with vital national interests while ensuring American taxpayer resources are used wisely.
  • A new attitude toward recruiting and readiness: Inspiring a new generation of Americans to serve, rooted in a belief in the greatness of our country and the importance of defending it.

“As veterans and military families, we have borne the burden of our country’s defense policies. CVA is committed to ensuring the future use of our Armed Forces is focused, principled, and aligned with the values that have kept Americans secure and free for almost 250 years. For the future of our country and the prosperity of the American people, we must modernize our military. We are excited to partner with Secretary Hegseth to achieve these goals.”
