CVA Statement on Colorado Springs VA Denying Veterans Care

By Concerned Veterans for America

Arlington Va.Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) released the following statement after the VA inspector general released a report highlighting how the Colorado Springs VA denied care to hundreds of veterans and inaccurately recorded wait times, making it appear that veterans were receiving timely care: “It is simply unacceptable that hundreds of Colorado veterans, because of VA mismanagement, were first denied VA care and then faced further delays in getting any care at all. It is also incredible that nearly two years after the wait list scandal first broke, we are still learning that VA employees, at best, don’t know how to record patient wait times, or at worst, are still manipulating those wait times to cast the VA in a more positive light. “The facts on the ground in Colorado, from the bungled construction of the Aurora VA to the denial of care in Colorado Springs, prove that VA leaders, starting with Sec. McDonald, are not doing nearly enough to change the culture of incompetence and corruption that has characterized the VA for years. It is time for Sec. McDonald and top VA leaders to embrace real reform, starting with the VA Accountability Act, so that veterans can access the care they deserve.”
