CVA to Missouri Senate: Reject Anti-Free Speech Measure S.B. 73

By Concerned Veterans for America

Arlington, VA – Today the Missouri state Senate Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics Committee will consider S.B. 73, a bill which would force citizens of the state to report which causes they support and allow the government to access their private information.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Policy Director Dan Caldwell issued the following statement:

“S.B. 73 would have a chilling effect on open debate in the state of Missouri and would diminish the free speech veterans fought and sacrificed to protect. No one should fear retaliation or harassment from their own government because of what they believe or what causes they privately support. We urge members of the Missouri Senate to reject this blatant attempt to strip away the First Amendment rights of its citizens. Nothing is as important as protecting as our fundamentally American right to free speech.”
