CVA: Leaving troops in Syria not in our national interest

By Concerned Veterans for America

ARLINGTON, Va.—Concerned Veterans for America senior adviser Dan Caldwell issued the following statement in response to reports of the president leaving American troops in Syria:

“President Trump was right to withdraw our troops from Northern Syria and he should follow through with his promised full withdrawal from the country. We accomplished our primary objective of eliminating ISIS’s territorial caliphate and none of the remaining actors in the Syrian Civil War have an interest in allowing ISIS to re-emerge. Leaving a small number of troops in Syria will only endanger those service members and heighten the risk of the United States getting drawn into another prolonged conflict that doesn’t serve our national interest. It is also worth reminding the President that many of the same people agitating against the withdrawal of our troops never debated or authorized sending them there in the first place.”
