Arlington, VA – Ahead of the Senate floor vote on the Supreme Court nomination this Friday, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) is dropping a fourth and final pro-Gorsuch direct mail targeted at Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO).
Last week Senator McCaskill announced that she opposes Judge Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation to the Supreme Court and will vote to support a filibuster, despite her acknowledgement for the need for an up-or-down vote in the past. McCaskill is up for re-election in 2018.
CVA mailer targeting Senator McCaskill over Gorsuch’s confirmation.
CVA Executive Director Mark Lucas issued the following statement:
“Gorsuch’s unparalleled experience and principled approach to interpreting the rule of law proves he will respect the Constitution that so many Americans veterans fought and sacrificed to defend. Our activists will continue pressuring Senator McCaskill to do the right thing and support Neil Gorsuch until the moment he is confirmed. If McCaskill chooses to follow through with her political theater on Friday, we’ll look forward to working with her constituents to hold her accountable in the future.”
A new Huffington Post/YouGov poll shows Americans want Gorsuch confirmed by a 17-point margin.
CVA has made over 33,000 calls and dropped two other waves of direct mail asking Missourians to urge Senator McCaskill to confirm Neil Gorsuch without delay. The group also launched a targeted web ad asking McCaskill to “secure our freedoms” by supporting Gorsuch and is promoting a digital tool which allows constituents to contact Senator McCaskill directly via Facebook, Twitter, and email.
