Arlington, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) will host “Our VA: An Awareness Rally & Town Hall” this Friday, February 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dan Caldwell, CVA’s Vice President of Political and Legislative Action, CVA Communications Director Peter Gaytan, and CVA Ohio Local Director Steve Burkhalter, will join local veterans to hear their concerns about the scandal surrounding the Cincinnati VA and discuss the need for true reform and accountability at the VA and what they can do to get involved. Caldwell had the following statement regarding the scandal: “The problems brought to light by whistleblowers at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center represent everything that is wrong with the current management and culture of the Department of Veterans Affairs. “Denial of care, lack of accountability and incompetent and unethical leaders are plaguing the department, and veterans are the ones paying the price. We hope Secretary McDonald will do everything possible to improve the delivery of health care to Cincinnati’s veterans, as well as thoroughly investigate Jack Hetrick and Barbara Temeck and ensure they are held accountable if they are found to have engaged in misconduct.” It has been nearly two years since it was revealed that veterans were placed on secret waiting lists at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals around the country — resulting in delayed care that, in some cases, led to veterans’ deaths. This event is free and open to the public and press. All attendees are asked to register for the event, here. Media can RSVP to CVA Press Secretary John Cooper at jcooper@cv4a.org.
