Bipartisan House Panel and Veteran Community Leaders Added to Fixing Veterans Health Care Summit Program
Reps. Gabbard, Walorski, Hunter, and Leaders of AMVETS, IAVA, CNAS to Discuss Taskforce Report

Arlington, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) today announced the addition of a bipartisan panel of members of the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as a panel composed of prominent members of the veterans community, to the program of its Fixing Veterans Health Care Report release and summit on February 26.

The bipartisan House Panel will feature Reps. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), and Duncan Hunter (R-CA). The Veterans Community Conversation will include Stewart Hickey, National Executive Director at AMVETS, Alex Nicholson, Legislative Director at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, and Phillip Carter, Director of the Military, Veterans, and Society Program at the Center for a New American Security.

The Fixing Veterans Health Care Summit, which will be held at the Capitol Hill Hyatt Regency on Thursday, February 26, from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., is the culmination of six months’ information-gathering, deliberation and hard work by the bipartisan Taskforce co-chairs to develop a veteran-centric, expert-driven set of reform policy proposals meant to dramatically improve health care delivery for veterans. Doors open and complimentary breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.

“The participation of three bipartisan U.S. House members, and prominent veteran leaders, is yet another testament to the seriousness and legitimacy of the Fixing Veterans Health Care Taskforce report—and its potential to drive a reform agenda in the 114th Congress,” said Darin Selnick, Executive Director of CVA’s Fixing Veterans Health Care Taskforce. “These influential members and thought leaders are key players in the realm of veterans’ health care policy and their views on the Taskforce report are invaluable contributions to the conversation on reforming the delivery of veterans’ health care.”

The event sold out in the first two weeks following its announcement, so a larger room was secured to accommodate another 200 attendees. A limited number of tickets remain, so attendees are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

This new list of attendees join an already accomplished list of speakers, including Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and John McCain (R-AZ), Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), as well as taskforce co-chairs Dr. Bill Frist (R-TN), Rep. Jim Marshall (D-GA), Dr. Mike Kussman, and Avik Roy. Additionally, Taskforce Executive Director Darin Selnick and CVA CEO Pete Hegseth will be delivering remarks.
