VA Makes Erroneous Claims About Patient Satisfaction

By Concerned Veterans for America

Phoenix, AZ – Today is was revealed there there is no proof to substantiate Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) claims that VA medical facilities are superior to private facilities, and that the department will not release the information it uses internally to make this determination.

Officials at the VA frequently assert that according to satisfaction surveys, VA medical facilities are superior to private medical facilities.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA)’s Arizona State Director Matt Dobson released the following statement:

“It’s unsurprising that VA has no legitimate internal measure for how well they are serving veterans. The VA often makes up its own narrative to dissuade veterans from thinking they need or deserve health care choices outside of the VA. Veterans who use the VA and struggle to receive even the most basic care know better. There is all the evidence in the world to support the demonstrable reality that the VA is failing to provide veterans adequate health care in a timely manner.”

VA Secretary Bob McDonald, as well as President Obama himself, have mislead the public about the number of VA employees fired in the wake of the wait list scandal.

Accountability and choice options like those provided in the proposed Caring for Our Heroes in the 21st Century Act would bring the reform necessary for the VA to serve veterans or allow them to seek their own health care outside of the VA system.
