CVA Urges Senate to Listen to Constituents, Confirm Gorsuch on Friday

By Concerned Veterans for America

Arlington, VA – Today the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 11-9 to approve the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. This Friday, the nomination will be sent to the Senate floor for a full vote.

Despite Judge Gorsuch’s unquestionable qualifications, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has vowed to filibuster against Gorsuch and deny him an up-or-down vote. A number of his Democrat colleagues, including Senators McCaskill (D-MO), Stabenow (D-MI), Nelson (D-FL), and Casey (D-PA) have followed suit.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Executive Director Mark Lucas issued the following statement:

“CVA urges members of the Senate to put aside party politics, listen to their constituents, and vote to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court bench this Friday. Neil Gorsuch has proven to be a qualified judge who is committed to respecting the rule of law and defending our Constitution. There is no logical reason Gorsuch should be denied the opportunity to serve his country in this extraordinary capacity. CVA will continue our efforts to hold Senators accountable until the last vote is cast and Judge Gorsuch is confirmed.”

CVA is engaged in a unique and unprecedented grassroots effort to help confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court bench. The group has made over 350,000 calls to constituents in twelve targeted states, asking them to contact their Senator and urge them to confirm Gorsuch without delay. The group has also launched web ads, three waves of direct mail, and is promoting a digital tool which allows constituents to contact their Senators directly via Facebook, Twitter, and email.

CVA’s efforts in West Virginia, North Dakota, and Indiana have yielded success as Senators Manchin (D-WV), Heitkamp (D-ND), and Donnelly (D-IN) have all stepped forth in support of confirming Gorsuch.
