Concerned Veterans for America Announces Support for “Caring for Our Heroes in the 21st Century Act”

Arlington, Va. – Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) Vice President for Political and Legislative Action Dan Caldwell released the following statement today in support of the “Caring for Our Heroes in the 21st Century Act,” a historic legislative proposal which would modernize the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure veterans are able to receive the care they need and deserve, whether with the VA or a doctor of their choosing:

“Concerned Veterans for America applauds Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers for working tirelessly to craft and introduce this proposal which will give every veteran eligible for VA care the ability to choose where he or she receives care. The reality of the VA’s failure is undeniable: the department is not structured to provide timely, sustainable care to veterans, and is in desperate need of ‘system-wide’ reform. The Caring for Our Heroes in the 21st Act will reverse the tide of inefficiency and failure at the VA while offering veterans the health care choice they deserve.

“While the usual chorus of special interests and entrenched bureaucrats will fight to protect their political power, Congress must do the right thing by standing with our veterans and implementing this commonsense legislation. Concerned Veterans for America and millions of veterans, current service members and their families will be watching this debate closely, and will hold accountable those lawmakers who abdicate their responsibility to care for those who have given the most for our country.

“It is long past time for true reform at the VA. Now is the time for Congress to do right by our heroes.”
