CVA took on a tremendously important task during the fall of 2015: making sure that veterans and military family members heard from America’s top policy makers about the issues that mattered to them most. To accomplish this, we hosted 10 Town Halls with top policy makers nationwide to make sure that the voice of America’s veterans (and the family members who fight alongside them) is heard.

In 2015, CVA’s Defend Freedom Tour had it’s biggest run yet. Piggy-backing off the nationwide success of the 2014 Tour, it the 2015 Tour kicked off with a momentous launch event in New York City in coordination with Fox & Friends. Over the next 6 months, the crowds grew and grew. Some events drew 200 people, while others exploded to 600+ veterans, military family members and patriots.
The large crowds were entertained by musical performances from country music artist, Ayla Brown, and patriotic rock band, Madison Rising. A star studded line-up of speakers inspired crowds week and after week, including the likes of Allen West in TX, Oliver North in SC, Rep. Steve Russell and Quincy Collins in NC, and Jason Redman at numerous stops. These incredible special guests joined a powerful team of regular speakers that included, Gold Star Mother, Karen Vaughn, Army Ranger, Sean Parnell, and Former CEO, Pete Hegseth.

In the Fall of 2014, Concerned Veterans for America commissioned a Fixing Veterans Health Care Taskforce. This taskforce brought together health care experts and advocates from both sides of the aisle to come up with a plan — a solution — for the problems plaguing the Department of Veterans Affairs. Co-chairs of the taskforce included: Health care expert, Avik Roy; former Under Secretary for Health for VA, Dr. Michael Kussman; Georgia Democratic Congressman, Rep. Jim Marshall; and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Dr. Bill Frist.
After 6 months, the taskforce revealed their solutions in our Fixing Veterans Health Care Taskforce Report. CVA debuted the report by hosting a summit in Washington, D.C. and invited lawmakers and experts to read & react to the proposals. Most notably, former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, touted the report as “the single most important reform document in the 93 years of the veterans bureaucracy.”
